Pour information, le site Gigapan donne une petite liste d'appareils photos numériques compacts compatibles avec la tête panoramique motorisée Gigapan : voir lien

Tous ces appareils ont un mode manuel avec la possibilité de fixer le diaphragme, la balance de blanc et le réglage de distance (manual focus) et ont été testés avec la Gigapan?

Trouvé sur le forum PanoTools New Generation, une interessant post d'Eric Hanson (xRez Studio) sur son expérience de l'utilisation d'appareil photo numérique compact Canon G9 sur 15 têtes panoramiques motorisées Gigapan lors du projet "Yosemite Extreme Pano Project" :

We recently did our Yosemite Extreme Pano Project w/ 15 Gigapans and G9's (http://www.xrez.com/yose_proj/Yose_index.html). My conclusions about that configuration is such:

Pros: Very little capital cost to obtain gigapixel images. Ease of use of the Gigapan, we trained 50 photographers in 1.5 hours to shoot for us. Easy to hike anywhere with the Gigapan, very little weight. Gigapan seemingly very reliable, all 20 photo teams were successful in their shoots (expected at least some problems!). Incredibly good and easy UI on Gigapan, makes short work of our involved mathematic shooing tables w/ the Rodeon.

Cons: Gigapan software only allows export to tif, so will limit higher resolutions. Shooting in portrait mode creates difficulty in PTGui (I have requested a "fill pitch" cmd from Joost to aid in this). No script text output as we have on our Rodeons. We have written a script that eases the templating into PTGui from the Gigapan's output. BIG drawback on the MF on the G9, we never got full MF, even though I thought I had disabled everything. I personally can't stand the over-programming of point and shoots. We used the Canon tele-extender, but had to fashion a makeshift lens hood for it, which bent in from wind on one shoot and created some issues. Ultimately, I personally don't like the noise and lower level of image processing on the G9 vs our Mk3 shoots, but of course what do you expect!

Overall, the Gigapan will democratize gigapixel work for the field, but we are still primarily interested in pushing the limits w/ our SLR rigs. Randy Sargent (Gigapan creator) has done truly amazing work in setting gigapixel images to be socially meaningful and widespread..

As for cams for the Gigapan, I suppose for now the G9 or upcoming G10 will be the pick, w/ the new Nikon P6000 a good contender also. I still await the Gigapan SLR base, which Randy assures me is in development, about a year away..

Je m'en sers avec un Canon Powershot SX100IS.
Je viens également de poster mon premier pano réalisé avec elle et assemblé avec Autopano Pro (d'ailleurs, l'assemblage n'est pas nickel...)

Le pauvre Brad indique que la tête panoramique qu'il a reçu ne fonctionnait pas correctement et qu'il l'avait reexpédié. De ce qu'il a pu apprendre lors de ses premiers essais, il n'a pas demandé à recevoir une nouvelle unité

Sur le site de Gigapan, à signaler l'apparition de 2 nouveaux modéles de Gigapan : voir lien
- la Gigapan Epic ressemblant beaucoup au précédent modèle Gigapan béta. Seule différence notable le système de déclenchement qui devient une boite noire visible sur la photo ci-dessous
- la Gigapan Epic 100 acceptant des appareils photos de plus grandes taille que la Gigapan Epic

A noter
- le prix de la Gigapan Epic : 379 $ (pour mémoire la version béta était commercialisé à 279 $ en tenant compte de 100 $ de réduction pour la version béta)
- que la Gigapan Epic 100 n'est pas encore commercialisé. Une premiere liste des appareils photos numériques est donné à cette adresse. A noter une première liste de boitiers reflex compatible (Nikon D40/D60/D80/D90, Sony Alpha 300/350)
